Mama had just closed the princess book when the whole window flashed white, so bright that Lina saw every toy on the shelf for a split second. Then, almost at once, came a crack of thunder so loud that the glass rattled and the lamp seemed to flicker. Lina shot under the duvet and curled into a ball. Rain was hammering the roof, and the wind was making a long, low moan round the corner of the house. "I don't like it," came a small voice from under the covers. "It sounds like the sky is breaking."
