قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن المشاركة وتبادل الأدوار، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ الأميراتِ والقصور

جاءت هدى وأهلها إلى العشاء، وبعده بينما يشرب الكبار الشاي فتحت لينا وهدى صندوق الأزياء، وفي أعلاه أفضل ما فيه: عباءة الأميرة الذهبيّة الطويلة اللامعة. فأمسكاها في اللحظة نفسها، قالت هدى: «رأيتها أوّلاً!» وقالت لينا: «إنّها عباءتي!»

Huda and her parents came for dinner, and afterwards, while the grown-ups drank tea, Lina and Huda opened the dress-up box. Right on top was the best thing in it: the gold princess cape, long and shiny. They both grabbed it at the same moment. "I saw it first!" said Huda. "It's MY cape!" said Lina.

وشدّا فتمدّدت العباءة، فجاء بابا قبل أن تتمزّق: «عباءةٌ واحدةٌ وملكان، وماذا يفعل الملوك حين تكون مشكلة؟ يضعون قاعدةً عادلة.» وأحضر مؤقّت المطبخ: «ثلاث دقائق لكلٍّ منكما، وهدى ضيفتنا فتبدأ هي.»

They tugged. The cape stretched. Baba came over before it could rip. "One cape, two royals," he said. "What do kings and queens do when there's a problem? They make a fair rule." He fetched the kitchen timer. "Three minutes each. Huda is the guest, so she goes first."

وأرادت لينا أن تجادل، لكنّها تركت العباءة. وبينما كانت هدى تدور بها وجدت لينا التاج الفضّيّ والعصا السحريّة وصارت حارسة القصر. دينغ! رنّ المؤقّت، فأعطت هدى العباءة وأخذت التاج. دينغ! تبديلٌ من جديد. وكان ذلك أمتع من الاستئثار بالعباءة.

Lina wanted to argue. But she let go. While Huda swirled around in the cape, Lina found the silver crown and the wand, and became the royal guard. Ding! went the timer. Huda handed over the cape, and took the crown. Ding! Swap again. It was more fun than having the cape all to herself.

وحين حان وقت العودة عانقت هدى لينا عند الباب: «أجمل قصرٍ على الإطلاق.» ودثّرتها ماما: «كان لطيفاً أن تدعي الضيفة تبدأ.» فتثاءبت لينا: «في المرّة القادمة أبدأ أنا»، فضحكت ماما، ونامت لينا مبتسمة. النهاية.

When Huda went home, she hugged Lina at the door. "Best palace ever," she said. Mama tucked Lina into bed. "Letting the guest go first was kind," she said. Lina yawned. "Next time, I'll go first," she said, and Mama laughed. She fell asleep smiling. The end.
