Hair-washing night was a battle in Majd's house. He could manage the bath, the bubbles and the toys, but the moment water ran over his face, he panicked: it went in his eyes, up his nose, and made him feel as if he couldn't breathe. Tonight, when Mama reached for the jug, Majd grabbed the edge of the bath. "Please, not tonight," he begged. Mama put the jug down. She didn't argue. She just sat on the edge of the bath and said, "Tell me exactly which part is the worst."
