قصة قبل النوم عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة للأطفال الذين يحبّون البحرَ وحيواناتِه

غداً يوم العرض والحديث في الحضانة، وقد اختار مَجْد كنزه: صدفةً ورديّةً كبيرةً من الشاطئ، ناعمةً من الداخل ونتوءاتٍ من الخارج. لكنّه جلس وقت النوم يمسكها بوجهٍ قلق: «سينظر الجميع إليّ، وإن نسيت ما أقول؟»

Tomorrow was show and tell at nursery, and Majd had chosen his treasure: a big pink shell from the beach, smooth on the inside and bumpy on the outside. But at bedtime, he sat holding it with a worried face. "Everyone will look at me," he said. "What if I forget what to say?"

فجلس بابا على السرير: «لنتدرّب، أخبرني بثلاثة أشياء عن صدفتك.» ففكّر مَجْد: «لونها ورديّ، وهي ناعمة من الداخل، ووجدناها على الشاطئ قرب الصخور.» قال بابا: «ممتاز، هذا عرضٌ كاملٌ من الآن.»

Baba sat on the bed. "Let's practise," he said. "Tell me three things about your shell." Majd thought. "It's pink. It's smooth inside. And we found it on the beach, near the rocks." "Perfect," said Baba. "That's a whole show and tell already."

وقال بابا: «وإليك سرّاً: إن نسيت فقرّب الصدفة من أذنك ودع الجميع يصغون، فصوتها يشبه البحر.» فجرّب مَجْد، فقالت الصدفة: شششش. فابتسم وقرّبها من أذن بابا أيضاً ليتأكّد.

"And here's a secret," said Baba. "If you forget, hold the shell to your ear and let everyone listen. It sounds like the sea." Majd tried it. Shhhh, went the shell. He smiled, and held it up to Baba's ear too, just to check.

ثمّ لفّ مَجْد الصدفة في جوربٍ ناعم ووضعها في حقيبة الحضانة جاهزةً للغد. وجاءت ماما تدثّره، فقال مَجْد نعسان: «ثلاثة أشياء: ورديّة، ناعمة، الشاطئ.» قالت ماما: «والبحر في داخلها.» فنام مَجْد مبتسماً. النهاية.

Then Majd wrapped the shell in a soft sock and put it in his nursery bag, ready for tomorrow. Mama came to tuck him in. "Three things," Majd told her sleepily. "Pink, smooth, beach." "And the sea inside," said Mama. Majd fell asleep with a smile. The end.
