Bedtime story about patience and waiting for kids who love trains

كان مَجْد يبني مع بابا دائرةً كبيرةً من السكك قبل النوم، وسار كلّ شيءٍ جيّداً حتّى القطعة الأخيرة. دفعها مَجْد فلم تتّصل، فدفع أقوى، فانفكّت السكّة كلّها. فصاح: «انكسرت! لن أكمل!»
Majd and Baba were building a big circle of track before bed. Everything went well until the very last piece. Majd pushed it, but it wouldn't join. He pushed harder. The whole track jumped apart. "It's broken! I give up!" he shouted.
لم يضحك بابا، بل قال: «هذا يحدث لبُناة السكك الحقيقيّين أيضاً. حين لا يركب شيء، لا تفيد القوّة، بل يفيد التمهّل. لننظر جيّداً.» فنظرا معاً، فإذا القطعة الأخيرة مقلوبة.
Baba didn't laugh. "That happens to real railway builders too," he said. "When something doesn't fit, pushing harder doesn't help. Slowing down does. Let's look closely." They looked. The last piece was the wrong way round.
فأخذ مَجْد نفساً عميقاً وأعاد وصل السكّة قطعةً بعد أخرى، واستغرق ذلك وقتاً. ثمّ قلب القطعة الأخيرة وضغط بلطف. طق! اكتملت الدائرة، ودار القطار الصغير ثلاث دوراتٍ كاملة.
Majd took a deep breath and joined the track back together, one piece at a time. It took a while. Then he turned the last piece round and pressed gently. Click! The circle was complete. The little train chugged round and round, three whole times.
وفي وقت النوم دثّره بابا وقال: «أردت أن تستسلم، لكنّك تمهّلت وحاولت من جديد. هذا هو الصبر.» فابتسم مَجْد بنعاس؛ غداً سيبني دائرةً أكبر. النهاية.
At bedtime, Baba tucked Majd in. "You wanted to give up, but you slowed down and tried again," he said. "That's patience." Majd smiled sleepily. Tomorrow he would build an even bigger circle. The end.
