قصة قبل النوم عن الصبر والانتظار للأطفال الذين يحبّون الأميراتِ والقصور

كان مَجْد في السرير وكتاب الأميرة في حجره جاهزاً، لكنّ ماما في الكرسيّ الهزّاز ترضع لولو، ولولو تأخذ وقتاً طويلاً جدّاً. فقال مَجْد: «ماما، اقرئي الآن!» فانتفضت لولو وبدأت تتململ. قالت ماما بلطف: «شش، هل تستطيع أن تنتظر بضع دقائق؟ بهدوء؟»

Majd was in bed with the princess book on his lap, ready. But Mama was in the rocking chair, feeding Lulu, and Lulu was taking a very long time. "Mama, read now!" said Majd. Lulu jumped and started to fuss. "Shh," said Mama gently. "Can you wait a few minutes? Quietly?"

فزفر مَجْد، فالانتظار أسوأ شيء، لكنّه فتح الكتاب ونظر إلى الصور وحده بهدوءٍ شديد: الأميرة في البرج، والأميرة في الحديقة، والأميرة في الحفلة، وعدّ النجوم على فستانها: اثنتا عشرة.

Majd huffed. Waiting was the worst. But he opened the book and looked at the pictures by himself, very quietly: the princess in the tower, the princess in the garden, the princess at the ball. He counted the stars on her dress. There were twelve.

وأخيراً أغمضت لولو عينيها، فوضعتها ماما في سريرها وجاءت على أطراف أصابعها، وهمست: «انتظرت انتظاراً جميلاً، ونامت لولو لأنّ المكان كان هادئاً.» وصعدت إلى السرير، فالتصق بها مَجْد، وقالت ماما: «والآن، أين كنّا؟»

At last Lulu's eyes closed. Mama laid her in the cot and tiptoed over. "You waited so beautifully," she whispered. "Lulu fell asleep because it was so peaceful." She climbed onto the bed, and Majd snuggled up close. "Now," said Mama, "where were we?"

فقال مَجْد: «على فستانها اثنتا عشرة نجمة.» فضحكت ماما: «لم ألاحظ ذلك قطّ.» وقرأت القصّة كلّها، وصفحةً إضافيّةً شكراً، وفي النهاية كانت عينا مَجْد تنغلقان أيضاً. همست ماما: «تصبح على خير يا صبوري.» النهاية.

"There are twelve stars on her dress," said Majd. Mama laughed. "I never noticed that." She read the whole story, and an extra page as a thank-you. By the end, Majd's eyes were closing too. "Goodnight, patient one," whispered Mama. The end.
