Bedtime story about patience and waiting for kids who love cars

كان بابا يعمل حتّى وقتٍ متأخّر. استحمّ مَجْد ولبس ثياب النوم، لكنّه لم يرد النوم قبل أن يراه. فألصق أنفه بالنافذة وسأل للمرّة الخامسة: «متى يأتي؟»
Baba was working late. Majd was bathed and in pyjamas, but he didn't want to go to bed without seeing him. He pressed his nose against the window. "When is he coming?" he asked for the fifth time.
قالت ماما: «الانتظار أسهل حين يكون عندنا عمل.» وقرّبت كرسيّاً من النافذة وقالت: «لنعدّ السيارات الحمراء المارّة. أراهن أنّ بابا سيصل قبل العاشرة.» فدقّق مَجْد النظر في الشارع.
"Waiting is easier when you have a job," said Mama. She pulled a chair up to the window. "Let's count the red cars going past. I bet Baba arrives before we get to ten." Majd narrowed his eyes at the street below.
مرّت سيارةٌ حمراء تحت أضواء الشارع، ثمّ شاحنة توصيلٍ حمراء. «هل تُحسب؟» قالت ماما نعم. ثمّ فترةٌ طويلةٌ لم يمرّ فيها إلّا الأزرق والأبيض. فتنهّد مَجْد، لكنّه بقي ينظر. ستّة... سبعة... ثمانية...
One red car zoomed by under the streetlights. Then a red van. "Does a van count?" Mama said yes. Then a long gap with only blue and white ones. Majd sighed but kept looking. Six... seven... eight...
ثمّ دخلت سيارةٌ مألوفةٌ إلى الممرّ وومضت أضواؤها مرّتين. بابا! صعد وحمله، وقال وهو يدثّره: «تقول ماما إنّك انتظرت بصبر. هذا أجمل استقبال.» فنام مَجْد سعيداً. النهاية.
Then a familiar car pulled into the drive and flashed its lights twice. Baba! He came upstairs and scooped Majd up. "Mama says you waited patiently," he said, tucking him into bed. "That's the best welcome home." Majd fell asleep happy. The end.
