صفٌّ واحدٌ من الترتر

كانت تيتا تخيط للينا عباءة أميرة، وكلّ مساءٍ تضيف صفّاً واحداً من الترتر اللامع.

Teta was sewing Lina a princess cape. Every evening, she added one row of shiny sequins.

فسألت لينا: «هل انتهت؟» قالت تيتا: «ليس بعد، فالأشياء الجميلة تحتاج إلى وقتٍ قليل.»

"Is it finished?" asked Lina. "Not yet," said Teta. "Good things take a little time."

فلمست لينا الصفّ الجديد برفق، فلمع، وقالت: «صفٌّ آخر غداً.»

Lina touched the new row gently. It sparkled. "One more row tomorrow," she said.

ودثّرتها ماما، فحلمت لينا بالعباءة اللامعة ونامت جيّداً. النهاية.

Mama tucked her in. Lina dreamed of the shiny cape, and slept well. The end.

Waiting is hard for young children. Show time with something they can see, like sleeps on a calendar.
Give your child something to do while waiting: a song, a drawing or counting cars.
Name the feeling: "Waiting is hard, and you are doing it."
