Lina's football club trained on Tuesday evenings, and every Tuesday the same thing happened. She came home tired and happy and left a trail through the house: boots in the hall, shin pads on the stairs, socks inside out on the landing, shirt in a muddy heap on the bathroom floor. And afterwards, there was always a hunt. "Where are my shin pads?" "Why is my shirt still dirty?" This Tuesday, Mama stood at the bottom of the stairs looking up at the trail. "Right," she said. "Tonight we fix this for good."
