قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن اللطف ومساعدة الآخرين، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ كرةَ القدم

في تلك الليلة، بعد أن قرأت ماما الحكاية ودثّرتها، حلمت لينا بحديقةٍ تأتي إليها كلّ كرات العالم لتلعب، لامعةً جديدةً بنقوشٍ زاهية، تقفز عالياً والأطفال يختارون المفضّلة لديهم.

That night, after Mama had read her story and tucked her in, Lina dreamed of a park where all the footballs in the world came to play. They were shiny and new, with bright patterns, and they bounced high while the children chose their favourites.

لكنّ لينا لمحت تحت مقعدٍ كرةً قديمة، باهتة الألوان، فرغ منها بعض الهواء. قالت بصوتٍ صغيرٍ خافت: «لا يختارني أحدٌ أبداً، فأنا قديمةٌ ورثّة.» فجلست لينا على العشب بجانبها.

But under a bench, Lina spotted an old ball. Its colours had faded and it had gone a bit flat. "Nobody ever chooses me," it said in a small, soft voice. "I'm too old and scruffy." Lina sat down on the grass next to it.

فقالت لينا: «الكرات القديمة عندها أجمل الحكايات.» ووجدت منفاخاً وملأتها بالهواء حتّى صارت مستديرةً متينةً من جديد، ثمّ ركلتها فطارت أعلى من الكرات اللامعة كلّها، وظلّت الكرة القديمة تضحك وهي ترتفع.

"Old balls have the best stories," said Lina. She found a pump and filled the ball with air until it was round and firm again. Then she kicked it, and it flew higher than all the shiny ones. The old ball laughed all the way up.

وفي غرفتها ابتسمت لينا في نومها. فنظرت ماما ورفعت الغطاء، ورأت كرتها القديمة في الزاوية قرب صندوق الألعاب، فابتسمت هي أيضاً وأغلقت الباب بهدوء. النهاية.

In her bedroom, Lina smiled in her sleep. Mama looked in, pulled the blanket up, and saw her old football in the corner by the toy box. She smiled too, and quietly closed the door. The end.
