قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن ترتيب الألعاب، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ البحرَ وحيواناتِه

في كلّ ليلةٍ بعد الحمّام كانت ألعاب الحمّام تبقى طافيةً في الماء: البطّة الصفراء، والقارب الأحمر، والسمكة الرشّاشة، والسرطان الذي يُدار بالمفتاح. ثمّ لا بدّ أن يصطادها أحد، وكانت ماما دائماً ذلك الأحد. لكنّ عندها الليلة فكرةً أخرى.

Every night after bath time, the bath toys were left floating in the water: the yellow duck, the red boat, the squirty fish and the wind-up crab. Then someone had to fish them out, and that someone was always Mama. Tonight she had a different idea.

وأعطت لينا الشبكة الخضراء الصغيرة من حقيبة الشاطئ: «أنتِ الصيّادة الليلة، وكلّ لعبةٍ تصطادينها تذهب إلى السلّة. لنرَ كم أنتِ سريعة.» فمالت لينا فوق حافّة الحوض وحرّكت الشبكة في الماء.

She gave Lina the little green net from the beach bag. "You're the fisherwoman tonight," she said. "Every toy you catch goes in the basket. Let's see how fast you can be." Lina leaned over the side of the bath and swished the net through the water.

كانت البطّة سهلة، والقارب يبحر بعيداً كلّ مرّة، لكنّ لينا لاحقته إلى الزاوية، والسرطان مختبئٌ تحت الفقاعات. وحين صارت كلّ لعبةٍ في السلّة الشبكيّة على الحائط سحبت ماما السدّادة: «هذا أفضل صيدٍ في الموسم.»

The duck was easy. The boat kept sailing away, but Lina chased it into a corner. The crab was hiding under the bubbles. When every toy was in the net basket on the wall, Mama pulled out the plug. "That's the best catch of the season," she said.

وفي البيجامة، دافئةً جافّة، نظرت لينا إلى ألعاب الحمّام تقطر سعيدةً في سلّتها، ودثّرتها ماما وقالت: «غداً تكونين الصيّادة من جديد.» فابتسمت لينا ونامت. النهاية.

Dry and warm in pyjamas, Lina looked at the bath toys dripping happily in their basket. Mama tucked her into bed. "Tomorrow night, you can be the fisherwoman again," she said. Lina smiled and fell asleep. The end.
