قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن ترتيب الألعاب، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ القمرَ والنجوم

كان وقت النوم قد اقترب، لكنّ غرفة الجلوس بدت كأنّ شهاباً هبط فيها: مكعّبات، وأقلام تلوين، وخيمةٌ من الوسائد، وثلاث جوارب غير متطابقة. فارتمت لينا على الأريكة وقالت: «أنا متعبة جدّاً للترتيب.» فأمسك بابا جهاز التحكّم بالتلفاز كأنّه ميكروفون: «من مركز التحكّم إلى الرائدة لينا: استعدّي للعدّ التنازليّ.»

It was nearly bedtime, but the living room looked like a meteor had landed in it: building blocks, crayons, a tent made of cushions and three odd socks. Lina flopped onto the sofa. "I'm too tired to tidy," she said. Baba picked up the TV remote and held it like a microphone. "Mission Control to Astronaut Lina. Prepare for countdown."

قال بابا: «لا يستطيع صاروخك الانطلاق إلى قاعدة النوم حتّى تخلو منصّة الإطلاق. معك مئة ثانية، تبدأ… الآن!» فقفزت لينا: دخلت المكعّبات في حوضها، والأقلام في علبتها، وتطابقت الجوارب، تقريباً.

"Your rocket can't launch to Bedtime Base until the launch pad is clear," said Baba. "You have one hundred seconds. Starting… now!" Lina jumped up. The blocks went into their tub. The crayons went into their tin. The socks were matched, sort of.

نادى بابا: «ثلاثون ثانية!» فعادت الوسائد إلى الأريكة واحدةً بعد واحدة. «عشرة، تسعة، ثمانية…» وأسرعت لينا لتضع آخر كتابٍ على الرفّ. «ثلاثة، اثنان، واحد… المنصّة خالية!» ووقفت لينا وسط الغرفة المرتّبة تلهث وتبتسم.

"Thirty seconds!" called Baba. The cushions went back on the sofa, one by one. "Ten, nine, eight…" Lina raced to put the last book on the shelf. "Three, two, one… launch pad clear!" Lina stood in the middle of the tidy room, puffing and grinning.

قال بابا: «انطلق!» وحملها وطار بها على الدرج وهو يصدر أصوات الصاروخ طوال الطريق، ثمّ أهبطها بلطفٍ في السرير ودثّرها وقال: «تمّت المهمّة أيّتها الرائدة.» فنامت لينا في لمح البصر. النهاية.

"Lift off!" said Baba. He scooped Lina up and flew her up the stairs, making rocket noises all the way. In the bedroom, he landed her gently in bed and tucked her in. "Mission complete, astronaut," he said. Lina was asleep in no time. The end.
