Lina had been given a full football kit for her birthday: shirt, shorts, socks, even a little tracksuit jacket with the team badge. Mama had hung it all up on the hook on the back of the bedroom door so it wouldn't get creased. But after she said goodnight and turned out the light, the hook looked very different. In the glow from the landing, the jacket and shirt hung together like a tall, thin figure with drooping arms, and the shorts and socks made legs. Lina's heart began to thump. She knew it was probably the kit. Probably.
