قصة قبل النوم عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة للأطفال الذين يحبّون السيارات

غداً أوّل يومٍ لمَجْد في الحضانة. وفي السرير لم يستطع التوقّف عن التفكير في ذلك، فسأل ماما: «ماذا لو اشتقت إليك كثيراً؟ وماذا لو لم أعرف أحداً؟»

Tomorrow was Majd's first day at nursery. In bed, he couldn't stop thinking about it. "What if I miss you too much?" he asked Mama. "What if I don't know anyone?"

ففتحت ماما يدها، وفيها أصغر سيارةٍ رآها مَجْد في حياته، حمراء لامعة، أصغر من حبّة عنب. وقالت: «هذه سيارة الجيب، وستذهب معك غداً. كلّما ضغطت عليها، كأنّني أعانقك.»

Mama opened her hand. Inside was the tiniest car Majd had ever seen, bright red and smaller than a grape. "This is a pocket car," she said. "It goes with you tomorrow. Whenever you squeeze it, it's like a hug from me."

فقلّبها مَجْد؛ كانت عجلاتها تدور حقّاً. وجرّب الضغط مرّةً ثمّ أخرى وسأل: «هل تعمل كلّ مرّة؟» فأومأت ماما: «كلّ مرّة. وفي نهاية اليوم، سأكون عند البوّابة.»

Majd turned it over. Its wheels really spun. He practised a squeeze, then another. "Does it work every time?" Mama nodded. "Every single time. And at the end of the day, I'll be right there at the gate."

ووضعت ماما سيارة الجيب على الطاولة الصغيرة بجانب ثياب الغد، ودثّرته. فنظر مَجْد إلى السيارة نظرةً أخيرة. ومع عناقٍ أحمر صغيرٍ ينتظر الغد، شعر بشجاعةٍ تكفي للنوم. النهاية.

Mama put the pocket car on the bedside table, right next to tomorrow's clothes, and tucked Majd in. Majd gave the car one last look. With a little red hug waiting for the morning, he felt brave enough to sleep. The end.
