Bedtime story about welcoming a new baby for kids who love cars

في أحد الأمسيات، دخل بابا من المرآب حاملاً شيئاً جديداً: مقعد سيارةٍ صغيراً بأحزمةٍ رماديّةٍ ناعمة، وقال: «هذا للطفل. قريباً سيكون في الخلف مقعدان.» فعبس مَجْد؛ فالمقعد الخلفيّ كان له وحده دائماً.
One evening, Baba came in from the garage carrying something new: a tiny car seat with soft grey straps. "This is for the baby," he said. "Soon there'll be two car seats in the back." Majd frowned. The back seat had always been just his.
وسأل: «وأين أضع أغراضي؟ سياراتي ووجباتي وكتبي؟» فجثا بابا وقال: «هناك مكانٌ لكلّ شيء. والطفل سيحتاج إلى من يحدّثه في الرحلات الطويلة؛ الأطفال يحبّون مراقبة أخيهم الكبير.»
"Where will my things go?" he asked. "My cars, my snacks, my books?" Baba knelt down. "There's room for everything," he said. "And the baby will need someone to talk to on long drives. Babies love watching their big brother."
ففكّر مَجْد قليلاً، ثمّ ربط الدبدوب في المقعد الصغير للتجربة، وعلّمه كيف يلوّح من النافذة وقال: «يمكنني أن أغنّي أغنية البيب، وأن أشير إلى الحافلات.» فأومأ بابا: «مهمّةٌ مثاليّةٌ لأخٍ كبير.»
Majd thought about it. Then he buckled teddy into the little seat to test it, and showed teddy how to wave out of the window. "I could sing the honking song," he said. "And point at the buses." Baba nodded. "Perfect job for a big brother."
وفي تلك الليلة دثّره بابا في السرير. فتمتم مَجْد: «مقعدان جنباً إلى جنب، أنا والطفل.» فقال بابا بهدوء: «أنت والطفل.» فابتسم مَجْد ونام، وهو يخطّط لأغاني المقعد الخلفيّ. النهاية.
That night Baba tucked Majd into bed. "Two car seats, side by side," he murmured. "Me and the baby." "You and the baby," said Baba softly. Majd smiled and fell asleep, already planning songs for the back seat. The end.
