By bedtime, Majd's farm had escaped. It had started as a neat little farm on the rug: a barn, a fence and a duck pond made from a blue plate. But over the evening the animals had wandered. Sheep were grazing on the bookshelf. A cow was stuck behind the radiator. The goat was in a slipper, the hens were in the doll's house, and the farmer himself was face down in the toy box. Baba surveyed the scene. "The farm inspector's coming in five minutes," he said solemnly. "And it's getting dark. Every animal needs to be home."
