بعد مساءٍ طويلٍ من ألعاب الديناصورات، صارت الغرفة مثل وادي الديناصورات: ديناصوراتٌ على السجّادة، وعلى السرير، وديناصورٌ بأشواكٍ يختبئ تحت الكرسيّ. قالت ماما: «اقترب وقت النوم. انظر إلى كلّ هذه الألعاب!»
After a long evening of dinosaur games, the bedroom looked like a dinosaur valley. There were dinosaurs on the rug, dinosaurs on the bed and a stegosaurus hiding under the chair. "It's nearly bedtime," said Mama. "Look at all these toys!"
لم يكن مَجْد راغباً في الترتيب. لكنّ ماما رفعت صندوق الألعاب الكبير وأمالته على جنبه وقالت: «هذا كهف الديناصورات. لقد قضت الديناصورات يوماً مزدحماً، وهي نعسانةٌ جدّاً. هل تساعدها لتجد طريقها إلى الكهف؟»
Majd didn't feel like tidying. But Mama held up the big toy box and turned it on its side. "This is the dinosaur cave," she said. "The dinosaurs have had a busy day, and they're very sleepy. Can you help them find their way home?"
فرفع مَجْد ريكس: «إلى الكهف يا ريكس!» ثمّ توبس، ثمّ سبايك، ثمّ كلّ الصغار، وكلٌّ منها يتثاءب تثاؤب الديناصورات الكبير. وعدّت ماما: «عشرة، أحد عشر، اثنا عشر!» وكان آخرها الديناصور الذي تحت الكرسيّ. فخلت السجّادة، وصارت الغرفة جميلة.
Majd picked up Rex. "Into the cave, Rex!" Then Tops, then Spike, then all the little ones, each with a big dinosaur yawn. "Ten, eleven, twelve!" Mama counted. Last of all came the stegosaurus from under the chair. The rug was clear and the room looked lovely.
أغلقت ماما الغطاء برفق وهمست: «ششش، الديناصورات نائمة.» ثمّ وضعته في السرير وقالت: «شكراً لأنّك ساعدت.» فابتسم مَجْد. كانت الغرفة المرتّبة هادئةً دافئة، مناسبةً تماماً للنوم. النهاية.
Mama closed the lid gently. "Shh, the dinosaurs are sleeping," she whispered. Then she tucked Majd into bed. "Thank you for helping," she said. Majd smiled. A tidy room felt calm and cosy, just right for sleeping. The end.
