قصة قبل النوم عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة للأطفال الذين يحبّون الحيوانات

كانت الليلة التي تسبق أوّل يومٍ لمَجْد في الحضانة، ولم يستطع أن يهدأ. وسأل ماما: «ماذا لو اشتقت إليك؟ وماذا لو لم يلعب معي أحد؟» فجلست ماما على طرف السرير وفكّرت قليلاً، ثمّ مدّت يدها إلى جُمجُم، الجمل اللعبة المرن الطريّ.

It was the night before Majd's first day at nursery, and he couldn't settle. "What if I miss you?" he asked Mama. "What if nobody plays with me?" Mama sat on the edge of the bed and thought for a moment. Then she reached for Jumjum, Majd's floppy cuddly camel.

قالت ماما: «الجمال مسافرةٌ ماهرة، تحمل ما يحتاجه الناس في الرحلات الطويلة. ما رأيك أن يسافر جُمجُم معك غداً في الجيب الأماميّ لحقيبتك؟ وإن اشتقت إليّ فاضغط على سنامه، وسأشعر بذلك.»

"Camels are very good travellers," said Mama. "They carry what people need on long journeys. How about Jumjum travels with you tomorrow, in the front pocket of your bag? If you miss me, you can give his hump a squeeze, and I'll feel it."

وأعجبت الفكرة مَجْد. وجهّزا الحقيبة معاً: قارورة ماء، وكنزةً إضافيّة، وفي الجيب الأماميّ جُمجُم ورأسه بارزٌ ليرى. وقال مَجْد: «ويستطيع جُمجُم أن يساعدني على تكوين أصدقاء، فالجميع يحبّ الجمال.»

Majd liked that idea. Together they packed the bag: a water bottle, a spare jumper and, in the front pocket, Jumjum, with his head poking out so he could see. "And Jumjum can help me make friends," Majd said. "Everyone likes camels."

فضحكت ماما ولفّته باللحاف وقالت: «هذه خطّةٌ جيّدةٌ جدّاً»، وقبّلت جبينه. فمدّ مَجْد يده وربّت على الحقيبة ربتةً أخيرة، ثمّ تكوّر تحت اللحاف وقد صار أشجع بكثير، وغطّ في النوم. النهاية.

Mama laughed and tucked the duvet round him. "That's a very good plan," she said, and kissed his forehead. Majd reached out and gave the bag one last pat. Then he snuggled down, feeling much braver, and fell fast asleep. The end.
