Lina had spent the evening building a jungle across the bedroom floor, and now, ten minutes before bedtime, she was lying in the middle of it announcing that tidying was the most boring thing ever invented. Mama didn't argue. She disappeared, and came back with a sheet of grey card, scissors and a marker. Five minutes later the toy box had grown two enormous goggly eyes, a pair of tiny ears and a mouth so wide it covered the whole front. "This," said Mama, "is Henrietta. She's a hippo. She hasn't eaten since Tuesday."
