Lina wanted to play with Nibbles the hamster. But Nibbles was curled up in his straw, fast asleep.

"Hamsters wake up in the evening," said Baba. "Let's wait quietly and watch."

They waited and watched. Then Nibbles yawned, stretched, and ran on his wheel. Squeak!

"Good waiting," said Baba, and tucked Lina into bed. Nibbles played all night. The end.

Talk about it together: What is something good that was worth waiting for?

Waiting is hard for young children. Show time with something they can see, like sleeps on a calendar.
Give your child something to do while waiting: a song, a drawing or counting cars.
Name the feeling: "Waiting is hard, and you are doing it."
