قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ القطارات

غداً أوّل يومٍ في الحضانة. وبعد الحمّام جهّزت لينا مع بابا الحقيبة الجديدة: ثياباً احتياطيّة، وقنّينة ماء، وصورةً للعائلة. ثمّ رفعت لينا أصغر قطارٍ عندها: «هل يأتي هذا أيضاً؟» فأومأ بابا: «كلّ مسافرٍ يحتاج إلى صديق.»

Tomorrow was the first day of nursery. After bath, Baba and Lina packed the new bag together: spare clothes, a water bottle, a picture of the family. Then Lina held up her smallest toy train. "Can this come too?" Baba nodded. "Every traveller needs a friend."

فوضعت لينا القطار في الجيب الأماميّ، لكنّ شفتها ارتجفت وهمست: «لا أريد أن أودّعك عند الباب، هذا أسوأ جزء.» فجلس بابا وقال: «إذن لنجعل الوداع لعبة.»

Lina tucked the train into the front pocket. But then her lip wobbled. "I don't want to say goodbye at the door," she whispered. "It's the worst part." Baba sat down. "Then let's make goodbye into a game," he said.

فوقف بابا مستقيماً كحارس محطّة ونفخ في صفّارةٍ خياليّة: «الجميع إلى القطار!» فشدّت لينا حبلاً خياليّاً وصاحت: «توت!»، ثمّ لوّحت ومشت إلى باب الغرفة كقطارٍ يغادر الرصيف. وكرّرا ذلك حتّى صارت لينا تقهقه.

Baba stood up straight like a station guard and blew a pretend whistle. "All aboard!" he called. Lina pulled an imaginary cord and shouted "Toot!", then waved and marched to the bedroom door, like a train leaving the platform. They did it again and again until Lina was giggling.

قال بابا: «هذا وداعنا للحضانة: صفّارة، توت، تلويح. وفي وقت العودة يرجع القطار إليّ.» ودثّرها في السرير، ففكّرت لينا في القطار الصغير في الحقيبة، الجاهز للغد، ونامت وهي تشعر بالشجاعة. النهاية.

"That's our nursery goodbye," said Baba. "Whistle, toot, wave. And at home time, the train comes back to me." He tucked Lina into bed. Lina thought about the little train in the bag, ready for tomorrow, and fell asleep feeling brave. The end.
