قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ القمرَ والنجوم

في كلّ مرّةٍ يوصل فيها بابا لينا إلى الحضانة تبكي عند الباب. والليلة، وقت النوم، أحضر بابا كتاباً عن روّاد الفضاء: في صورةٍ منه رائدةٌ تعانق أطفالها مودّعةً قبل مهمّة، وفي التالية تطفو في الفضاء وتنظر من نافذةٍ إلى الأرض.

Every time Baba dropped Lina at nursery, she cried at the door. Tonight, at bedtime, Baba brought a book about astronauts. In one picture, an astronaut was hugging her children goodbye before a mission. In the next, she was floating in space, looking out of a window at the Earth.

سألت لينا: «هل كانت حزينة؟» قال بابا: «قليلاً. اشتاقت إليهم واشتاقوا إليها، لكن كان عندها أعمالٌ مهمّة، وكذلك هم، وكانت تعرف بالضبط متى تعود.» وقلب الصفحة: هبطت الكبسولة، والأطفال يركضون لعناقها.

"Was she sad?" asked Lina. "A bit," said Baba. "She missed them, and they missed her. But she had important things to do, and so did they. And she knew exactly when she was coming home." He turned the page. The capsule had landed, and the children were running to hug her.

قال بابا: «الحضانة تشبه المهمّة قليلاً: تذهبين وتفعلين أشياء مهمّة، الرسم واللعب وتكوين الأصدقاء، وأنا أذهب إلى العمل. وفي الثالثة تهبط كبسولتي عند بوّابة الحضانة، وأكون هناك.» ففكّرت لينا: «في كلّ مرّة؟» «في كلّ مرّةٍ بلا استثناء.»

"Nursery is a bit like a mission," said Baba. "You go and do important things: painting, playing, making friends. I go to work. And at three o'clock, my capsule lands at the nursery gate, and I'm there." Lina thought about it. "Every time?" "Every single time."

وتدرّبا على الهبوط: ركضت لينا عبر الغرفة وقفزت بين ذراعي بابا: «هبطت الكبسولة!» ثمّ دثّرها بابا وقال: «غداً حين أغادر فكّري في الهبوط.» فأومأت لينا بنعاس ونامت وكتاب الروّاد تحت ذراعها. النهاية.

They practised the landing: Lina ran across the bedroom and jumped into Baba's arms. "Capsule landed!" Then Baba tucked her in. "Tomorrow, when I leave, think about the landing," he said. Lina nodded sleepily and fell asleep with the astronaut book under her arm. The end.
