Bedtime story about welcoming a new baby for kids who love the moon and stars

ظلّت الطفلة لولو تبكي طوال المساء؛ أطعمتها ماما وهزّتها وبدّلت لها، ولم ينفع شيء. فسدّ مَجْد أذنيه: «اجعليها تتوقّف!» ثمّ خطرت له فكرة: «ماما، حين أحزن أحبّ النظر إلى القمر، ربّما تحبّه لولو أيضاً؟»
Baby Lulu had been crying all evening. Mama had fed her, rocked her and changed her, but nothing worked. Majd covered his ears. "Make her stop!" Then he had an idea. "Mama, when I'm sad, I like looking at the moon. Maybe Lulu would too?"
بدت ماما متعبة، لكنّها ابتسمت: «لنجرّب.» وحملوا لولو إلى النافذة الكبيرة في الممرّ وأزاحوا الستارة، فإذا القمر نصف دائرةٍ مضيئةٍ معلّقٌ فوق الأشجار. وقال مَجْد بهدوء: «انظري يا لولو، هذا القمر.»
Mama looked tired, but she smiled. "Let's try." They carried Lulu to the big window in the landing and pulled back the curtain. The moon was a bright half-circle, hanging over the trees. "Look, Lulu," said Majd softly. "That's the moon."
فهدأ بكاء لولو ثمّ توقّف، وحدّقت في القمر بعينين واسعتين لامعتين. وأخبرها مَجْد بكلّ ما يعرفه: أنّ القمر يدور حول الأرض، وأنّ روّاد الفضاء مشوا عليه يوماً، وأنّه يبدو مختلفاً كلّ ليلة. فأصدرت لولو صوتاً صغيراً: «أووو.»
Lulu's crying went quieter, then stopped. She stared at the moon with wide, shiny eyes. Majd told her everything he knew: that the moon goes round the Earth, that astronauts once walked on it, that it looks different every night. Lulu made a little "Ooo" sound.
همس مَجْد: «أعجبها!» وأغمضت لولو عينيها ببطء. فهمست ماما: «وجدت ما تحتاجه تماماً، شكراً.» وبعد أن وُضعت لولو في سريرها، دثّرته ماما وقبّلته، فنام وهو يشعر أنّه أفضل أخٍ كبير في العالم. النهاية.
"She likes it!" whispered Majd. Lulu's eyes slowly closed. "You found exactly what she needed," Mama whispered back. "Thank you." After Lulu was in her cot, Mama tucked Majd into bed and kissed him. Majd fell asleep feeling like the best big brother in the world. The end.
