قصة قبل النوم عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة للأطفال الذين يحبّون القمرَ والنجوم

كان مَجْد سيبدأ الحضانة غداً، وفي بطنه رفرفة. وسأل وماما تمشط شعره بعد الاستحمام: «ماذا لو لم تعجبني؟» ففكّرت ماما لحظةً، ثمّ ذهبت إلى علبة الخياطة وعادت بشيءٍ صغيرٍ مستدير.

Majd was starting nursery tomorrow, and his tummy felt fluttery. "What if I don't like it?" he asked as Mama brushed his hair after the bath. Mama thought for a moment, then went to her sewing box and came back with something small and round.

كانت شارةً مطرّزةً عليها صاروخٌ وحلقةٌ من النجوم الصغيرة. قالت ماما: «لكلّ مهمّةٍ فضائيّةٍ حقيقيّةٍ شارة، يلبسها الروّاد على بدلاتهم ليتذكّروا أنّهم جزءٌ من فريق، حتّى وهم بعيدون. وهذه لمهمّة الحضانة.»

It was an embroidered patch with a rocket on it, and a ring of tiny stars. "Every real space mission has a patch," said Mama. "The astronauts wear it on their suits, so they remember they're part of a team, even when they're far away. This one is for Mission Nursery."

وخاطتها ماما على مقدّمة حقيبة ظهر مَجْد، فراقب كلّ غرزة، وسأل: «من في فريقي؟» قالت ماما: «أنا وبابا هنا في مركز التحكّم، وفي الحضانة ستكون معلّمتك قائدة الطاقم، وسيكون لك طاقمٌ كامل.»

Mama sewed it onto the front of Majd's backpack, and Majd watched every stitch. "Who's on my team?" he asked. "Me and Baba, here at Mission Control," said Mama. "And at nursery, your teacher will be your crew leader. You'll have a whole crew."

ووضع مَجْد الحقيبة قرب السرير والشارة إلى الخارج حيث يراها، وقال: «مهمّة الحضانة تبدأ غداً، ثمّ أعود إلى القاعدة.» قالت ماما وهي تدثّره: «دائماً.» فنام مَجْد وهو ينظر إلى الصاروخ الصغير، أشجع قليلاً. النهاية.

Majd put the backpack by the bed, patch facing out, where he could see it. "Mission Nursery starts tomorrow," he said. "And then I come back to base." "Always," said Mama, tucking him in. Majd fell asleep looking at the little rocket, feeling a bit braver. The end.
