الصاروخ الذي اضطرّ أن ينتظر

قبل النوم شاهدت لينا مع بابا صاروخاً حقيقيّاً على الشاشة، طويلاً أبيض.

Before bed, Lina and Baba watched a real rocket on the screen. It stood tall and white.

وقال صوتٌ من الشاشة: «انتظروا، الريح شديدة.» فاضطرّ الصاروخ أن ينتظر.

"Wait," said a voice on the screen. "The wind is too strong." The rocket had to wait.

فانتظرت لينا أيضاً في حضن بابا. ثمّ: «ثلاثة، اثنان، واحد!» فانطلق إلى الأعلى، ووووش!

Lina waited too, cuddled on Baba's lap. Then, "Three, two, one!" Up it zoomed, whoosh!

قالت لينا: «أحسنت الانتظار يا صاروخ.» فدثّرها بابا. تصبح على خير يا صاروخ! النهاية.

"Good waiting, rocket," said Lina. Baba tucked her into bed. Goodnight, rocket! The end.

Talk about it together: What is something good that was worth waiting for?

Waiting is hard for young children. Show time with something they can see, like sleeps on a calendar.
Give your child something to do while waiting: a song, a drawing or counting cars.
Name the feeling: "Waiting is hard, and you are doing it."
