قصة قبل النوم عن الذهاب إلى الحضانة للأطفال الذين يحبّون كرةَ القدم

وقت النوم أخبرت ماما مَجْد بخبر: «غداً في الحضانة مباراة كرة قدمٍ في الساحة.» وكان مَجْد يحبّ الكرة عادةً، لكنّه لم يمضِ في الحضانة إلّا أسبوعاً، ولا يعرف الأطفال جيّداً بعد. فسأل: «ماذا لو لم يمرّر لي أحد؟»

At bedtime, Mama told Majd some news. "Tomorrow, the nursery is having a football game in the playground." Majd usually loved football. But he had only been at nursery for one week, and he didn't really know the other children yet. "What if nobody passes to me?" he asked.

قالت ماما: «إذن مرّر لهم أنت أوّلاً، هذا هو السرّ. حين تمرّر الكرة لأحدٍ فكأنّك تقول: لنلعب معاً. وحين يردّها يصير لك صديق.» ففكّر مَجْد في ذلك؛ بدا قليلاً كالسحر، وقليلاً كالحقيقة.

"Then you pass to them first," said Mama. "That's the secret. When you pass the ball to someone, you're saying, 'Let's play together.' And when they pass back, you've got a friend." Majd thought about that. It sounded a bit like magic, but also a bit true.

فتدرّبا على بساط الغرفة بكرةٍ طريّة: دحرج مَجْد الكرة إلى ماما وقال: «أنا مَجْد، هل تلعبين معي؟» فدحرجتها ماما: «أنا ماما، نعم من فضلك!» ثمّ تدرّب مع الدبدوب الذي كان سيّئاً جدّاً في ردّ الكرة، فضحكا معاً.

They practised on the bedroom rug with a soft ball. Majd rolled it to Mama and said, "I'm Majd. Want to play?" Mama rolled it back. "I'm Mama. Yes, please!" Then Majd practised with Teddy, who was very bad at passing back, which made them both laugh.

ووضعت ماما حذاءه الرياضيّ قرب الباب جاهزاً للغد، ثمّ دثّرته وهمست: «مرّر أوّلاً.» فهمس مَجْد: «أمرّر أوّلاً.» ونام يتخيّل الكرة تتدحرج إلى صديقٍ جديد. النهاية.

Mama put his trainers by the door, ready for tomorrow. Then she tucked him in. "Pass first," she whispered. "Pass first," Majd whispered back. He fell asleep imagining the ball rolling to a new friend. The end.
