The dress-up game had lasted the whole evening, and it had been one of the best ever. Lina had been a princess at a ball, a queen giving orders, a royal guard marching up and down the hall, and finally a jester doing silly dances for Mama. But when Baba came up for bedtime, the bedroom looked as if a whole palace had been tipped upside down. Dresses, capes, scarves, crowns, a cardboard sword and one sparkly shoe lay in a mountain in the middle of the rug. "Oh dear," said Baba. "Was there a royal earthquake?"
