جاءت تيتا تبيت عندهم الليلة، وبعد العشاء جلست على الأريكة بتنهيدةٍ تفرك ظهرها: «هذه العظام القديمة متعبة.» فراقبها مَجْد؛ تيتا تجعل الجميع يشعرون بأنّهم مميّزون دائماً، فربّما على أحدٍ الليلة أن يجعل تيتا تشعر بأنّها مميّزة.
Teta had come to stay the night, and after dinner she sat down on the sofa with a sigh, rubbing her back. "These old bones are tired," she said. Majd watched her. Teta always made everyone feel special. Maybe tonight, someone should make Teta feel special.
فأحضر ورقاً وصمغاً والملصقات الذهبيّة من كتاب ملصقات الأميرة، وصنع تاجاً على طاولة المطبخ، وساعدت ماما بالدبّاسة. وأضاف مَجْد جوهرةً ورديّةً كبيرةً في المقدّمة، وكتب «تيتا» على الشريط بأجمل حروفه.
He fetched paper, glue and the gold stickers from his princess sticker book, and made a crown at the kitchen table. Mama helped with the stapler. Majd added a big pink jewel at the front, and wrote TETA on the band in his best letters.
ثمّ حمله على وسادةٍ إلى الأريكة كخادمٍ ملكيٍّ في كتاب أميرات، وانحنى: «هذا للملكة.» فوضعت تيتا يدها على قلبها، ولبست التاج، وجلست مستقيمةً جدّاً، فلم تعد تبدو متعبةً أبداً.
Then he carried it to the sofa on a cushion, like a royal servant in a princess book. "For the queen," he said, and bowed. Teta put her hand on her heart. She put the crown on, and sat up very straight, and suddenly she didn't look tired at all.
ووقت النوم جاءت تيتا تقول تصبح على خير وما زال التاج على رأسها، وهمست: «شكراً يا حبيبي، لم يصنع لي أحدٌ تاجاً من قبل.» ودثّرته ماما، فنام مَجْد مبتسماً يفكّر في تيتا الملكة. النهاية.
At bedtime, Teta came to say goodnight, still wearing her crown. "Thank you, my darling," she whispered. "Nobody has made me a crown before." Mama tucked Majd in. Majd fell asleep smiling, thinking of Teta the queen. The end.
