قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن المشاركة وتبادل الأدوار، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ البحرَ وحيواناتِه

في زيارةٍ لبيت تيتا بعد العشاء وجدت لينا على رفّ الكتب صدفةً ورديّةً كبيرةً ملتفّةً كالبوق. قالت تيتا: «ضعيها على أذنك.» ففعلت، فسمعت صوت اندفاعٍ خافتٍ كأمواجٍ بعيدة، وشهقت: «إنّه البحر!» ولم ترد أن تتركها.

On a visit to Teta's flat after dinner, Lina found a big pink shell on the bookcase, curled like a trumpet. "Hold it to your ear," said Teta. Lina did, and heard a soft rushing sound, like waves far away. "It's the sea!" she gasped. She didn't want to put it down.

وكان سامي يزور تيتا أيضاً، فظلّ يحوم قريباً ينتظر: «هل أسمع؟» فشدّت لينا على الصدفة؛ إنّها مميّزةٌ جدّاً، وماذا لو أوقعها؟ فابتسمت تيتا: «البحر كبيرٌ جدّاً، ويكفي الجميع.»

Cousin Sami was visiting Teta too, and he hovered nearby, waiting. "Can I listen?" he asked. Lina held the shell tighter. It was so special. What if he dropped it? Teta smiled. "The sea is very big," she said. "There's enough for everyone."

فأرت لينا سامي كيف يمسكها بيديه الاثنتين بعناية على أذنه، فاتّسعت عينا سامي وهمس: «ووش.» وتناوبا عليها، كلٌّ يعدّ إلى عشرة، وأخبر كلٌّ منهما الآخر بما يسمع: أمواج، وريح، وربّما حوت.

So Lina showed Sami how to hold it carefully with both hands, against his ear. Sami's eyes went wide. "Whoosh," he whispered. They took turns, counting to ten each, and told each other what they could hear: waves, wind, maybe a whale.

وفي البيت حضّرت ماما الحمّام ودثّرتها وقالت: «تقول تيتا إنّك شاركتِ صدفتها المميّزة بشكلٍ جميل.» فتثاءبت لينا: «البحر يكفي اثنين.» ثمّ نامت تصغي إلى الهدوء. النهاية.

At home, Mama ran Lina's bath and tucked her in. "Teta says you shared her special shell beautifully," she said. Lina yawned. "The sea's big enough for two," she said. Then she fell asleep, listening to the quiet. The end.
