In Lina's nursery class there was a goldfish called Goldie, who lived in a round tank by the window and had a habit of following people's fingers along the glass. Every week, one child was chosen as the fish helper, and they got to feed her, check the water and wear a badge with a fish on it. All year, Lina had waited for a turn. Tonight, at bedtime, she was too excited to sleep. "Tomorrow it's me," she told Baba for the fifth time. "I'm the fish helper. I have to look after Goldie all week."
