قصة قبل النوم للبنات عن المشاركة وتبادل الأدوار، لكلّ بنتٍ تحبّ السيارات

كان مرآب لينا فخر غرفتها: طابقان، ومنحدرٌ حلزونيّ، ومصعدٌ بمقبضٍ يُدار، ومضخّة وقودٍ صغيرةٌ ترنّ. لذلك حين جاء سامي بعد العشاء ومعه كيسٌ من سياراته، شعرت لينا بوخزة قلق؛ فسيارات سامي موحلةٌ من الحديقة، وإحداها عجلتها مخلخلة. سأل سامي بأمل: «هل تقف سياراتي في مرآبك؟»

Lina's toy garage was the pride of her room: two floors, a spiral ramp, a lift with a crank handle and a little petrol pump that dinged. So when cousin Sami turned up after dinner with a bag of his own cars, Lina felt a prickle of worry. Sami's cars were muddy from the garden and one had a wobbly wheel. "Can mine park in your garage?" Sami asked hopefully.

فقالت لينا: «إنّه ممتلئ»، ولم يكن هذا صحيحاً تماماً. وأسرعت تملأ كلّ المواقف بسياراتها، حتّى التي على السطح. فنظر سامي إلى المرآب، ثمّ صفّ سياراته على السجّادة بهدوءٍ شديد، وأخذ يحرّك السيارة المخلخلة ذهاباً وإياباً، لكنّه لم يكن يلعب حقّاً. وفجأةً بدا المساء طويلاً.

"It's full," said Lina, which was not exactly true. She quickly parked her own cars in every space, even the ones on the roof. Sami looked at the garage, then lined his cars up on the rug instead, very quietly. He pushed the wobbly one back and forth, back and forth, but he wasn't really playing. The evening suddenly felt long.

وراقبت لينا ابن خالتها قليلاً؛ فمرآبٌ مليءٌ بالسيارات من دون أحدٍ يلعب معه مملٌّ على نحوٍ غريب. وتذكّرت زيارتها لبيت سامي، حين تركها يركب درّاجته الجديدة أوّلاً. فأخذت نفساً وقالت: «في الحقيقة، الطابق العلويّ كلّه فارغ. سياراتك تسكن هناك، والمصعد للجميع. ويمكننا أن نصلح العجلة المخلخلة في الورشة.»

Lina watched her cousin for a while. A garage full of cars, with nobody to play with, was strangely boring. She remembered visiting Sami's house, when Sami had let her ride his new scooter first. Lina took a breath. "Actually," she said, "the whole top floor is free. Your cars can live up there. And the lift is for everyone. We can even fix your wobbly wheel in the workshop."

فأضاء وجه سامي، وبعد قليلٍ صار المرآب أكثر المرائب ازدحاماً في المدينة: سياراتٌ تصطفّ أمام المصعد، ومضخّة الوقود ترنّ، ولينا الميكانيكيّة تشدّ العجلة المخلخلة بقلم رصاص. وحين جاءت الخالة لتأخذ سامي، قال: «هل نلعب بالمرآب مرّةً أخرى في المرّة القادمة؟» وفي وقتٍ لاحق، دثّرها بابا، فهمست لينا: «المرآب الممتلئ مرآبٌ سعيد»، ونامت. النهاية.

Sami's face lit up. Soon the garage was the busiest in town: cars queuing for the lift, the petrol pump dinging, and a pretend mechanic, Lina, tightening the wobbly wheel with a pencil. When Auntie came to fetch Sami, he said, "Can we play garages again next time?" Later, Baba tucked Lina into bed. "A full garage is a happy garage," Lina murmured, and fell asleep. The end.
