Teta had come to stay the night while Baba was away, and after dinner she lowered herself onto the sofa with a long sigh. She'd spent the whole evening cooking and playing and reading, and now she was rubbing her back and her eyes were heavy. "I'm not as young as I was," she said with a little laugh. Majd watched her from the rug. Teta was the person who made everyone feel like royalty: she remembered everyone's favourite food and always saved the best piece for you. Majd thought: who makes Teta feel like royalty?
