بعد أن نظّف مَجْد أسنانه، صعد إلى السرير مع لعبته المفضّلة، ديناصورٍ أخضرَ اسمه دينو. ولفّت ماما البطانيّة حولهما، وقالت: «تصبح على خير يا حبيبي»، وأطفأت النور. فأغمض مَجْد عينيه، وغفا في حلمٍ جميل.
After brushing his teeth, Majd climbed into bed with his favourite toy, a green dinosaur called Dino. Mama tucked the blanket around them both. "Goodnight, my love," she said, and turned off the light. Majd closed his eyes and drifted into a dream.
في الحلم، صار دينو كبيراً، بذيلٍ طويلٍ وابتسامةٍ لطيفة. قال: «هيّا نبحث عن عشاء.» فمشيا في غابةٍ من السراخس العملاقة، وملأ مَجْد ذراعيه بأكبر الأوراق وأكثرها قرمشة.
In the dream, Dino was big, with a long tail and a friendly grin. "Let's find some dinner," he said. They walked through a forest of giant ferns, and Majd filled his arms with the biggest, crunchiest leaves he could find.
وتحت شجرة، كان ديناصورٌ صغيرٌ يبكي بهدوء: «أنا جائعٌ جدّاً، وأنا صغيرٌ لا أصل إلى الأوراق.» فنظر مَجْد إلى كومة أوراقه، ثمّ أعطى الصغير أكبر ورقة. قرمش الصغير الورقة وابتسم، وشعر مَجْد بالفرح يملأ قلبه.
Under a tree sat a baby dinosaur, crying softly. "I'm so hungry, and I'm too small to reach the leaves." Majd looked at his big pile. Then he gave the baby the very biggest leaf. Munch, crunch! The baby smiled, and Majd felt happy all over.
ثمّ أخذت الغابة تتلاشى، وصار الحلم ناعماً وناعساً. وعاد مَجْد إلى سريره الدافئ، يعانق دينو بقوّة. وفكّر وهو بين النوم واليقظة أنّ المشاركة تملأ البطون والقلوب معاً. النهاية.
Slowly the forest faded, and the dream grew soft and sleepy. Majd was back in his cosy bed, hugging Dino tight. Sharing, he thought sleepily, makes everyone's tummy and heart feel full. The end.
