The two families had eaten together, and now the grown-ups were drinking mint tea in the living room while Majd and Sami played upstairs. Majd had just tipped out the enormous tub of toy animals, years of birthdays and treats, when Sami pounced on the best ones: the silverback gorilla, the lioness with her cubs, the giraffe with the bendy neck. "These are mine," he announced. "You can have the farm ones." Two minutes later Mama came upstairs to find both of them red-faced, holding opposite ends of the giraffe.
