Baba was reading Lina a story from the big blue book of princess tales, the one with gold edges on the pages. It was about a princess who lived in a palace on top of a snowy hill and who was famous for her red velvet cloak, the warmest in the whole kingdom. When the story ended, Baba closed the book and turned off the lamp. Lina lay in the dark, imagining that cloak, heavy and soft. Before long her breathing slowed, the room faded, and she was dreaming.
