كان المساء قد حلّ، وقد عاد بابا لتوّه من العمل. ارتمى على الكنبة، وفرك عينيه، وتثاءب تثاؤباً طويلاً ناعساً، ثمّ قال: «يا له من يومٍ مزدحم!» فنظرت إليه لينا، وخطرت لها فكرة.
It was evening, and Baba had just come home from work. He dropped onto the sofa, rubbed his eyes and gave a long, sleepy yawn. "What a busy day," he sighed. Lina looked at him and had an idea.
لبست خفّها الأخضر الذي يشبه قدمَي ديناصور، وعليه مخالبُ ناعمة. وقالت بصوتٍ خافت: «أنا ديناصورٌ لطيف، والديناصوراتُ اللطيفة تساعد!» ثمّ مشت على أطراف أصابعها إلى المطبخ بخطواتٍ صغيرة.
She pulled on her green dinosaur slippers, the ones with soft claws on the toes. "Roar," she said quietly, "I am a gentle dinosaur, and gentle dinosaurs help!" Then she tiptoed off to the kitchen with tiny dinosaur steps.
وعادت الديناصور اللطيف ومعها كوبُ ماء، تحمله بحذرٍ شديدٍ كي لا ينسكب. ثمّ أحضرت وسادةً ناعمةً لظهر بابا، وبعدها خفَّيه. فضحك بابا وقال: «لم يعتنِ بي ديناصورٌ من قبل! شكراً لك.»
The gentle dinosaur came back with a cup of water, carrying it very carefully so it would not spill. Next came a soft cushion for Baba's back, and then his slippers. Baba laughed. "I have never been looked after by a dinosaur before! Thank you."
وبعد الحمّام والحكاية، وضعها بابا في السرير وقبّل جبينها، وقال بهدوء: «اللطفُ أجملُ ما يفعله الديناصور.» فابتسمت لينا ابتسامةً ناعسة، وأغمضت عينيها. النهاية.
After a bath and a story, Baba tucked Lina into bed and kissed her forehead. "Being kind is the best thing a dinosaur can do," he said softly. Lina smiled a sleepy smile and closed her eyes. The end.
