كان رمضان. السماء برتقاليّة، والبيت تفوح منه رائحة الشوربة، وماما وبابا ينتظران الإفطار.
It was Ramadan. The sky was orange, and the house smelled of soup. Mama and Baba were waiting for iftar.
مَجْد وتمرات الإفطار
Majd and the Iftar Dates
وحمل مَجْد صحن التمر إلى المائدة بحذرٍ شديد: «تمرةٌ لماما، وتمرةٌ لبابا، وتمرةٌ لتيتا!»
Majd carried the bowl of dates to the table, very carefully. "One for Mama, one for Baba, one for Teta!"
ثمّ ارتفع الأذان من المسجد، فأكل الجميع تمرةً حلوة. وقال بابا: «شكراً على مساعدتك يا مَجْد!»
Then came the call to prayer from the mosque. Everyone ate a sweet date. "Thank you for helping, Majd!" said Baba.
وبعد الإفطار، حمّمته ماما ووضعته في السرير. رمضان كريم يا مساعدي الصغير. النهاية.
After iftar, Mama gave Majd a warm bath and tucked him into bed. Ramadan Kareem, little helper. The end.
