قصة قبل النوم عن شهر رمضان للأطفال

كان الأسبوع الأوّل من رمضان. كانت ماما وبابا صائمَين طوال النهار، والسماء خلف النافذة تتلوّن بالبرتقاليّ، والمطبخ تفوح منه رائحة شوربة العدس والخبز الساخن. قال بابا وهو ينظر إلى الساعة: «لم يبقَ إلّا قليل.»

It was the first week of Ramadan. Mama and Baba had been fasting all day, and now the sky outside the window was turning orange. The kitchen smelled of lentil soup and warm bread. "Not long now," said Baba, looking at the clock.

وأراد مَجْد أن يساعد. فغسل يديه، وحمل صحن التمر إلى المائدة خطوةً بعد خطوةٍ بحذر، ثمّ وضع كوب ماءٍ عند كلّ صحن: لماما، ولبابا، ولتيتا، ولنفسه كوباً صغيراً.

Majd wanted to help. He washed his hands and carried the bowl of dates to the table, one careful step at a time. Then he put a glass of water by every plate: Mama's, Baba's, Teta's and his own little cup.

وجلس الجميع ينتظرون. كان الانتظار صعباً، فرائحة الشوربة شهيّة جدّاً! وأخيراً ارتفع الأذان من المسجد فوق السطوح. فمدّ مَجْد صحن التمر وقال: «تفضّلي أوّلاً يا تيتا.» فأخذت تيتا تمرةً وابتسمت.

Everyone sat down and waited. Waiting was hard, because the soup smelled so good! At last the call to prayer floated over the rooftops from the mosque. Majd held out the dates. "You first, Teta," he said. Teta took one and smiled.

وبعد الإفطار، حمّمه بابا، ووضعته ماما في السرير. وهمست تيتا عند الباب: «جعلتَ إفطارنا أحلى.» فابتسم مَجْد وفكّر أنّ رمضان شهرُ المساعدة. النهاية.

After iftar, Baba gave Majd a bath, and Mama tucked him into bed. "You made our iftar extra sweet," whispered Teta from the door. Majd smiled. Ramadan, he thought, is a month for helping. The end.
